Colorful Flores

I made it Guatemala two days ago after a nearly 12 hour bus ride from Mexico via Belize, and have been staying on the small island town of Flores in the El Peten province since. The thing that I like most about Flores are all of the brightly colored buildings. It’s a quaint little town that is much more attractive than the nearby Santa Elena. With cobblestone streets and a view of the lake at almost every corner, the town was a great place to stay while planning a trip to the ancient mayan city of Tikal. Being so small, there is not much to actually do except walk around and enjoy a fresh smoothie from a lakeside terrace, but it is muy tranquilo.
